Thailand: July 4 – 10, 2012

  • Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai
  • ‘Foreigner spicy’ or ‘Local spicy’ – pick ‘local’ at least once, and if it’s not too hot, pick it again
  • It’s spicy but it’s sweet – what?
  • Temples, temples, temples
  • Elephants: feeling less bad about being called ‘Eliphant’ as a chubby child
  • You will spend a lot of $$ on buying bananas for elephants
  • Playing with baby tigers is an experience I will never forget – but it’s bittersweet to see large tigers in cages that, although big, cannot compare with the wild
  • Flight of the Gibbon ziplining – do it
  • Majority of these excellent photos were taken by brother, Leonard
  • Language:
    สวัสดี (sawasdee): hello

    • I am so envious! You might be interested in some programs I’ve seen in Thailand where you work with elephants as a mahout from several days to several weeks – basically living with them, caring for them, etc.

Although, this comes at a price – as all things do.
