United States of America: August 19 – 21, 2014

  • Zion National Park, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend
  • Cutting through Arizona to get to Utah
  • Experiencing rain in the desert
  • Zion National Park
    • Weeping Rock hike – super easy hike if you don’t want to break a sweat
    • 7AM wakeup to hike Zion National Park
      • Lower/Middle/Upper Emerald Pools
      • The Grotto Trail
    • The blue sky contrasting with the pink and orange cliffs are amazing
    • The girls being held up by a massive tarantula on the trail for 20 minutes, and me venturing onwards solo because I’m an impatient person
    • Finally understanding why smokers and hiking do not mix
  • Lake Powell is a man-made lake literally in the middle of nowhere
  • Going horseriding
    • My horse’s name is ‘Star’ aka ‘Rockstar’
    • Star enjoys rubbing his butt on shrubs (which is apparently something Mustangs do to mark their territory)
  • Staying at a cowboy ranch and eating a delicious pineapple veggie burger
  • Seeing the Colorado River at Horseshoe Bend (and like typical tourists, pulling out the American flag to take pictures with – GOD BLESS AMERICA)
