  • San Ignacio & Barton River Cave & Big Rock Waterfall
  • Currency: Belize dollars (By law, it remains at a fixed rate of $2BZ to $1USD – USD is accepted everywhere)
  • San Ignacio is a small town in the Belizean jungle
  • Staying in an Ecolodge called ‘Trek Stop’
    • Small cabins
    • Main dining/hang out area
    • Trying out the new sport of frisbee golf
    • Movie night with the first 40 minutes of Shaun of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead
    • Compost toilets where you flush with wood shavings
  • Barton River Cave
    • Going past Mennonite farming communities
    • Canoeing into a cave that was seen in Mayan culture as a holy place leading to Hell, which all people must pass through before getting to Heaven
    • Seeing pots and skulls from Mayan culture of sacrifices and offerings
  • Big Rock Waterfall is located in Belize’s first national park (there are pine trees!)
  • Francis Ford Coppola (director of The Godfather) owns a hotel in the park which has the best (and most expensive) pizza in Belize
