  • Tikal & Lake Peten Itza & Flores
  • Currency: Guatemalan quetzal (USD is widely accepted, but you will get change back in local currency, and often at a bad exchange rate)
  • Tikal – one of the largest Mayan Archaeological sites
    • temples, palaces, jungle
    • spider monkeys, coatis, hummingbirds, toucans
    • a lot of buildings align according to astronomy and the Mayan calendar
    • virgins, royalty, and babies were sacrificed
    • the Mayans were so advanced they had an irrigation system
    • the Mayans built ball courts with locker rooms
  • Flores – a town on a little island in the lake
    • go to Sky bar – it has a lovely view
